Subject : Under 13's (SMGFL) Win SMGFL cup
A big well done to the Under 13's in the SMGFL who won the SMGFL Cup on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Fletcher Moss with 2 Goals from Chelsea Flanagen and 1 goal from Chloe Mcdermott. The girls finished runners up in their league and are in the Challenge cup final next week.

The MCLFC Presentation/Awards evening is to be held on SUNDAY 25TH MAY 2008 at the City of Manchester Stadium in the Citizens Suite. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets will be available at your training sessions from this Friday onwards. Adults £3, children £1, players free.
Once again we will be holding our Grand Raffle and the raffle tickets will be distributed from Friday onwards also.

This years under 14's (next years under 15's) are looking for a new coach to win the Lancashire league next season.
You will already have an assistant (who has a level 1 and who is looking to do their level 2) and a network of parents who are the backbone of the team (do the admin work).

Subject : Open Age Ready for the New Season - Message from Leigh Wood
It's all change at Manchester City Ladies for the season ahead as far as the coaching staff is concerned.
Leigh Wood steps up as 1st Team manager after having a successful last
season in earning the Reserves promotion to the FA Premier Reserve
League Midlands/North Division 1, being piped on goal difference by Preston North End.
Leigh, who holds a Uefa B License, is currently a Sports Development
Coach for Tameside District Council. He has been quick to build a strong team to support him with Chris Twohig as Assistant Manager
John Lucus who was with the Reserves towards the end of last season, is appointed as Head Physio and Fitness Instructor, whilst Jenna Gilbert, Martin Williamson and Tom O'Connell have come on board as
Physiotherapist and Sports Masseurs respectively.
Taking up the challenge of Reserve Team Manager is Ryan Matthews. Ryan
spent last season with the U16's and is looking forward to the
challenges ahead as he prepares for his first season in open age football. Ryan will be assisted by Jane Clark, who has had 11 great seasons at the club as a player and club captain.
Leigh commented, "I have a great team of both players and support staff, all committed to improving City's fortunes this season through a mixture of teamwork, sports science, fun and of course fine good football thrown in for good measure. I am really looking forward to the challenges of first team football in what is always a highly competitive league. We have re-signed our experienced players like Lindsay Savage (Capt), Nicola Twohig, Charlotte Farrell, Katie Brussell, Alex Merrill, Kelly McLellan, Laura Gligan and Levi Wensley, so we have a great spine to the team to build around."
Pre season training is now well underway, with the girls commenting that they have never been fitter. To round off the preparations the whole open age squad is attending a personal fitness, training and nutrition education day at Manchester City's Academy on 11th August. Then it's on to the opening game of the season at home to Sunderland on 19th August.

Subject : Moss Farm Tournament
On an extremely hot day the girls from Manchester City did themselves proud at all age levels. The Under 11's competing in the Under 12 age group fought hard throughout the event only to lose out narrowly to Everton in the group stages.
At Under 16's we had two teams in the competition, both topping their respective groups going through unbeaten; only to come up against stiff opposition against Liverpool and Everton in the semi's - both going out to a single goal.
It was left to the Under 14's to lift the trophy - again unbeaten in their group games - they met Everton (again) in the final. After extra time, with City having most of the chances it came down to penalities !!! The girls held their nerve and ran out 10-9 winners - Well done to all coaches and players - a credit to the club.

Subject : League Cup Draw
Following the succes of beating Fulham on penalties in the first round of the FA league CUP, the 1st team have been drawn at home against either Wolves or Arsenal. The match is scheduled to be played on the 9th October at Flixton, but on the likelyhood that Arsenal beat Wolves, thenthe match is being re-scheduled as a mid-week fixture with the 19th or 20th October being put forward as potential dates. We are hopefully going to get a great turnout from club members to get close up to Arsenal's many international players. More information to follow.

Subject : Under 14's Secure £300 Donation from
Thanks to Pat Young, the team have been donated £300 from Wilson James Limited, a specialist security company based in London and Salford. The money has gone towards purchasing a set of new long-sleeve shirts for the Under 14 girls.

After all costs were taken into account the club made an unexpected profit from the Christmas Party of £100. It has been proposed that we use some of this surplus as a donation to the tsunami relief fund. The matter will be discussed at the AGM.

City have been drawn away against the current National Premier league leaders Charlton Athletic in the next round to be played on 10th October. Details are as follows :-
The team will travel by minibuses (2). Spaces will be allocated to team and club members first. If room is available, other players or supporters can board the bus and contribute to fuel charge.
The team will be staying at the Premier Lodge, Waltham Abbey. 0870 9906568. Room rate is around £52.
